SPMC ඉතිහාසය
ගුණාත්මක, ක්‍රියාකාරී හා ආරක්ෂාකාරී ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදනය කිරීමේ අධිෂ්ඨානය පෙරදැරිව, ජපන් ජාත්‍යන්තර සහයෝගිතා නියෝජිතායතනය (JICA) හරහා ජපන් රජයෙන් ලැබුණු ආධාර ප්‍රදානයක් මත පදනම්ව 1987 වර්ෂයේදී රාජ්‍ය ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදන සංස්ථාව (SPMC) පිහිටුවන ලදී .මෙම දූරදර්ශී තීරණය ප්‍රථම වරට යෝජනා කරන ලද්දේ 1971 වර්ෂයේදී ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරන ලද බිබිලේ-වික්‍රමසිංහ වාර්තාව තුළය.
2005 වර්ෂයේදී ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරන ලද “මහින්ද චින්තනය” තුළ “ශ්‍රී ලංකාව තුළ ඉහළ ගුණාත්මකතාවෙන් යුතු අත්‍යවශ්‍ය ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදනය කරනු පිණිස ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ රාජ්‍ය ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදන සංස්ථාව ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට පියවර ගැනෙනු ඇත” යනුවෙන් සඳහන් කිරීම මගින් රාජ්‍ය ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදන සංස්ථාව (SPMC) ජාතියට ඇති වැදගත්කම යළි අවධාරණය කරනු ලැබ ඇත.1
957 අංක 49 දරන කාර්මික සංස්ථා පනත විසින් පවරා දෙන ලද පරිද්දෙන් රාජ්‍ය ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදන සංස්ථාවේ (SPMC) ප්‍රධාන කර්තව්‍යයන් වන්නේ:-
- ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදනය, පිරිසැකසීම, ගබඩා කිරීම, ඇසිරීම හා නැවත ඇසිරීම
- ඖෂධ නිෂ්පාදනයට හා සැකසීමට අවශ්‍ය තාක්ෂණික සහාය සැපයීම
- භිෂග්වේදාත්මක (ඖෂධ විද්‍යාත්මක) හා ඖෂධවේදාත්මක පර්යේෂණ පැවැත්වීම හා ප්‍රමිතිකරණය
- ඖෂධ අලෙවි කිරීම.
